The position is Recreation Supervisor - Adult Programs & Events. This position is directly responsible for the daily coordination and implementation of Adult Programs and Community/Special Events of all ages and will manage a variety of seasonal employees and volunteers.

Position Summary: 

  • The Recreation Supervisor – Adult Programs & Community Events is directly responsible for the daily coordination and implementation of Adult Programs and Community/Special Events of all ages 
  • Manages a variety of seasonal employees and volunteers. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, payroll, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. 
Essential Responsibilities: Plans, coordinates and supervises the following: 
  • Plans, coordinators, supervises, and evaluates educational classes, fitness programs, AM Swim/Fitness, enrichment activities, special and community events, bus trips, etc. 
  • Collaborates with the Director of Recreation in developing program offerings, goals, objectives, and budgetary needs 
  • Facilitates the promotion and marketing of programs to increase public awareness and participation 
  • Assists in the preparation of department budget and monitors program expenses and income 
  • Recruits, assigns, trains, and supervises program staff including instructors and/or guest speakers 
  • Maintains records of program participation, services, personnel/payroll, equipment and property
  • Maintains inventory of related recreation equipment and supplies
  • Participates in professional growth opportunities 
  • Organizes and maintains an effective Adult Programs & Events Advisory Committee 
  • Develops and maintains volunteer job descriptions, effective recruitment and management of volunteers for programs 
  • Assists with marketing, recruitment and retaining sponsorships for programs and community/special events 
  • Facilitates participation of residents with special needs/disabilities in program opportunities 
  • Coordinates registration and use of facilities, program equipment and resources 
  • Actively collaborates with other recreation departments to offer coop programs
  • Perform other duties as directed 

Terms of Employment: 

  • Twelve month year 
  • Occasional early morning, evening, and weekend hours will be required as needed 
  • Subject to terms of the Mequon-Thiensville School District Employee Handbook 

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of employees 

Reports to: Director of Recreation 

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of public recreation programs; staff supervision, scheduling and training; program evaluation; and marketing
  • Certified Lifeguard with First Aid, CPR, and AED preferred or willing to obtain
