Job Description
The Village of Mount Horeb is seeking an enthusiastic, community-minded professional to join our team as Recreation Program Coordinator. This full-time position plays a key role in delivering high-quality recreation services by providing administrative support, excellent customer service, and assisting with the planning and implementation of a wide range of recreational programs and events. The Coordinator will also oversee Aquatic Center staff and programming, ensuring safe, fun, and engaging experiences for all.

Essential Job Functions include:

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with participants, the public, and Village staff to ensure smooth operations of programs and activities.
  • Train, guide, and support program instructors on departmental policies, program goals, and expectations to maintain program quality.
  • Lead meetings with instructors and participants to ensure clarity and coordination for programs, events, and activities.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies and promotional materials to increase participation and viability of recreation programs.
  • Prepare and maintain program documentation including evaluations, performance reviews, schedules, activity guides, and class descriptions.
  • Use Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) to manage program data and prepare reports.
  • Operate a motor vehicle safely for program-related tasks.
  • Maintain inventories of program supplies and equipment.
  • Set up, move, and take down program/event equipment (tables, chairs, tents) weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Address and resolve operational or work-related issues through collaboration and effective problem-solving.
  • Collect and maintain statistical data to evaluate and justify ongoing programs and events.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee recreation volunteers, Aquatic Center staff, and part-time employees.
  • Maintain accurate schedules for shelter and Community Center rentals.
  • Perform general office duties to support an organized and efficient work environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or a related field required.
  • Two or more years of experience in recreation, community programming, or other public-facing roles preferred.
  • Lifeguard certification or previous aquatics experience desirable.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification within six months of hire.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Driver’s License.
Salary/Salary Range

$23 + per hour depending on experience along with an excellent benefits package
