Job Description
The Recreation Department Assistant is responsible for assisting the Recreation Manager in managing, developing and implementing successful recreational programs. This seasonal position runs from June 1 through August 15 and will be 40+ hours/week. In conjunction with general recreational work such as, program and event planning and personnel supervision, approximately 50% of this position will be responsible for aquatic programming and operation of the municipal swimming pool.

Other responsibilities include:

• Coordinating summer camp programs, facilitating leagues, and working with the public on a day-to-day basis.
• Completion of reports, evaluations, and usage reports may be required, along with assisting at special events over the summer.
• The Recreation Assistant is also responsible for some program management and safety practices.

Qualifications 

The ideal candidate will be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in recreation administration/management, business administration or related field or have one or more years of recreation experience, or any combination of education or experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. Preferred experience as CPR instructor, lifeguard instructor, or the ability to become certified. Valid Driver’s License required.Preferred certifications in American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

Salary/Salary Range
$20/hour
