Program Site Coordinator (Before & After School Care and Summer Camp) Menomonee Falls Community Education and Recreation
Job Description Schedule: School Year: M-F, 6:15 AM – 10:15 AM AND 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM Summer: M-F, 8 hours/day, start/end times may vary, between the hours of 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM
Summary: The Program Site Coordinator provides programming for and direct supervision of the Kids INC school year and summer programs. Oversees the daily operation of a school and summer site, schools out program schedule (field trips, daily schedule, staffing), summer field trips and supplies. The coordinator develops connections among the programs, schools, parents and community. This position requires a strong focus on behavior management by guiding staff in creating positive environments, addressing and documenting behavioral concerns, and ensuring consistent application of program policies. The coordinator provides administrative, programmatic, managerial, and operational support to the Recreation Supervisor, hourly employees, volunteers, and students to ensure smooth and safe operations of the programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include
- Assists in the development, planning, organization and implementation of program goals and objectives.
- Assists in the hiring, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of program personnel.
- Maintain and submit all required paperwork to the Recreation Supervisor.
- Set up and inspect the program sites (facility and equipment) on a daily basis.
- Promote and maintain safety practices and procedures by both staff and participants.
- Implement, model, and support effective behavior management strategies across all programs.
- Provide coaching and guidance to staff on responding to participant behavior concerns and maintaining positive environments.
- Document all behavior incidents involving participants and staff promptly and follow up to ensure appropriate resolution and accountability.
- Communicate Kids INC program information through various methods, to develop and maintain sufficient communication with participants and their parents.
- Be prepared to react to an emergency situation; be certain your site first aid kit is sufficiently stocked with necessary supplies, and that your staff is aware of the location of the first aid kit, bio-hazard supplies and telephone.
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
- May have to assist children with special needs and toileting issues.
- Maintain confidentiality and unquestionable integrity.
Qualifications Key Skills and Abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of the development and implementation of innovative recreational and educational activities and programming for an elementary before and after school programs and summer camp.
- Strong understanding and experience in behavior management strategies, including supporting staff with proactive approaches and intervening in escalated situations.
- Ability to address, document, and follow up on behavioral incidents involving participants and staff professionally and effectively.
- Understand, correctly interpret, and effectively communicate with others applicable policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
- Must have strong problem solving, and technology skills.
- Must demonstrate sound analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to earn trust and confidence from co-workers and take personal accountability.
- Must demonstrate strong convictions and support for the District’s and Department’s mission, vision and goals.
- Ability to work positively, effectively and ethically with District personnel.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and the Board of Education policies.
- Ability to supervise program personnel with a variety of experiences.
Desired Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Education, Certificates, Licenses and Training)
- Preferably 21 years of age or older.
- 2 years academic preparation in early childhood, elementary education, recreation, or a related field is preferred.
- Preferred certifications in First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Prior experience in the supervision and leadership of youth in a recreational setting.
- Must be able to work cooperatively with other program staff, parents and the general public.
- Must complete all required trainings for the position.
- Ability to develop, plan, and direct various activities involved in before and after school and summer camp programming.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other District personnel, and the public.
- Ability to follow verbal and or written instructions.
- Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations.
- Must be able to work independently as well as within a team.
Salary/Salary Range Starting at $19.38/hour; Based on Experience; Benefits Eligible
