Parks Supervisor Greenfield Parks and Recreation
Job Description The Parks Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of related work crews and implementation of maintenance programs and development projects, recommends Park Division needs, staffing requirements, and equipment/supplies to be purchased and assists in the overall planning, development and maintenance of City park lands, Community Center, and recreational facilities as well as other public areas/facilities that may be assigned.
Qualifications Required Education/Training and Experience Degree in Park Management, Forestry, Landscape Architecture or a related field preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and increasingly responsible experience which provides knowledge of park operations and maintenance, general building and electrical maintenance, grounds and turf maintenance, athletic field maintenance, park equipment maintenance and construction, fleet equipment maintenance, landscape design, weed/insect control, and tree/shrub/flower planting and care.
Preferred Education/Training and Experience B.A., B.S. or Master’s degree in Park Management, Forestry, Landscape Architecture or a related field, or any equivalent combination of training and increasingly responsible experience which provides knowledge of park operations and maintenance, general building and electrical maintenance, grounds and turf maintenance, athletic field maintenance, park equipment maintenance and construction, fleet equipment maintenance, landscape design, weed/insect control, and tree/shrub/flower planting and care.
The City of Greenfield reserves the right to utilize equivalencies where deemed appropriate with regard to education and experience requirements and may consider combinations of education and experience likely to lead to success with essential duties and responsibilities.
Other Qualifications Excellent interpersonal/communication skills. Possession and maintenance of a valid Wisconsin driver’s license. Ability to deal diplomatically with the public, departmental employees and other city departments. Must possess a current Wisconsin Pesticide Applicator license category 3 (Turf and Landscape). CPR, AED and First Aid certifications required.
Preferable Certificates/Licenses Certified Playground Safety Inspector or ability to obtain within one year of employment. National Recreation & Park Association (NRPA); Certified Park & Recreation Professional (CPRP); Wisconsin Parks & Recreation Association (WPRA) membership
Salary/Salary Range Starting salary is $82,659 per year, along with excellent benefits.
