Kids Club/Kidz Connection Supervisor - Before and After School Program Franklin Public Schools - Community Education and Recreation Department
Job Description The Kids Club/Kidz Connection Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Before and After School Program within the Community Education and Recreation Department. This role includes supervising part-time staff, organizing activities, and ensuring a safe, structured, and welcoming environment for children. The position requires strong organizational and leadership skills, along with a genuine interest in supporting youth development through engaging and well-managed programming.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Supervision & Child Engagement:Supervise children in grades 4k-5th Grade during before and after school hours, ensuring safety, appropriate behavior, and active engagement.
- Lead and oversee a variety of recreational and enrichment activities such as games, arts and crafts, sports, and group projects.
- Provide homework help in a positive and encouraging manner.
- Promote a fun, inclusive, and respectful environment for all children.
- Encourage teamwork, cooperation, and good sportsmanship.
- Monitor attendance and ensure all children are accounted for.
- Serve snacks and ensure proper hygiene and cleanliness practices.
Site Management & Leadership:
- Oversee and manage part-time staff assigned to your site, providing leadership, guidance, and support.
- Take overall responsibility for the daily operation of the program site, including planning and organizing daily schedules, activities, and snack times.
- Assist in staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage during program hours.
- Approve part-time staff payroll in Skyward in a timely and accurate manner.
- Create purchase orders and coordinate with the Recreation Coordinator or Kids Club Manager to order supplies and manage inventory within the allocated budget.
- Ensure the site environment is safe, clean, organized, and welcoming at all times.
Administrative Duties & Communication:
- Maintain open and professional communication with parents, staff, and recreation department management.
- Address behavioral issues and resolve conflicts using positive behavior strategies.
- Attend meetings and trainings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Recreation Management to ensure smooth operation of the program.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational, recreational, or childcare setting is required.
- Experience supervising staff or leading a team is strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan and lead engaging activities in a structured, child-centered environment.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass a background check.
Schedule:
- Part-time, seasonal position for the school year.
- Hours: Monday–Friday
- Before School: 6:30 AM – 9:00 AM or 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
- After School: 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM or 2:45 PM - 5:30PM
- Occasional meetings or events may require availability outside of these hours.
Salary/Salary Range $20.00 - $25.00
